Well, I am finally diving in to the wide world of blog. I had considered it several times and even attempted once, but I felt it too time consuming and something that I may not keep up with. So here goes...a full on attempt, in a new year!
Why "The Barrister Barista"?
Great question, I'm so glad you asked.

It all began in 1993, when I was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Starbucks was a fairly new American phenomenon at that point, but was growing like crazy in the Pacific Northwest. I tried this new drink called a "Mocha" and loved it. Then I tried the "Latte" and "Cappuccino". But eventually I tried the purest drink ever, some say the sustenance of life...the "Espresso". Over the years I have owned several espresso machines, beginning with a cheap Krups that merely burned good coffee beans and dumped the hot liquid into a glass carafe, without creating any crema which is a sign that it made lousy espresso. I've graduated to a beautiful, yet simple and durable piece of Italian workmanship: the Rancilio Silvia & the Rocky coffee grinder.
Needless to say, I have become a bit of an espresso snob, not that I like the term snob, but I am very discriminating when it comes to the hot rich liquid we call espresso. Probably the very best espresso I have ever tasted at a retail coffee establishment is Peet's...highly recommend Espresso Forte' and Major Dickason's roasts...Garuda is also wonderful and rich.
This blog will include tidbits relating to coffee, but will also include family stuff too. We have a sweet 22 month old daughter named Chloe who is absolutely a gift from God to us. And soon we will be blessed with a little boy to be named Jedidiah. From time to time I may be inclined to post commentary on political issues as well. ;-) I'm sure that this is a great surprise to those who already know me!
I almost forgot. Here I was telling you why "The Barrister Barista"...well, I am a newly minted lawyer (Barrister if you are in England). And Barista is the Italian word for bartender. The word is most often associated with one who makes espresso drinks. In fact, Starbucks calls their employees Baristas.
That's all I have time for at the moment. Gotta go enjoy a double shot of Peet's espresso! Compliments of Silvia.
